Action Alert: Tell President Bush to shut down Guantanamo Bay

I'm not going to mince words here. Guantanamo Bay is a violation of human rights the image of God. It is especially galling that America can consider itself a Christian nation, and still do this. It is especially galling to see the President's administration acting like weasels to legally justify holding detainees arbitrarily, without trial, and under conditions that constitute torture.

I think it is especially important that we act now, because it is Eid ul-Adha, (Jan 10-14, starts on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijja). It is one of two Eid festivals that Muslims celebrate, and here, they commemorate the Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son, Isamel, at God's command. Jews and Christians know him as Abraham. Let's pray for these guys during this holiday, and pray that they will be able to celebrate the next holiday with their families.
