Sen. McCain on the DREAM Act

The DREAM Act would give the children of undocumented immigrants in the US the chance to achieve permanent residency, and eventually citizenship, by enrolling in college or serving in the military. Here, McCain is caught on tape fully supporting the DREAM Act. However, in a previous radio interview, he says:

"...so I would have voted against moving forward with the DREAM Act because we haven't secured the borders yet..."

It should be unnecessary for him to pander to the lunatic fringe here. Bring children of undocumented immigrants or undocumented children into the mainstream (by letting them attend college or enlist) would seem to promote national security. Marginalizing them might well work against national security in the long run.
